Great WOB: my Word of Blog campaign

by admin

Aloha Ho‘ohana Community,

I need your feedback on something. Would you give me your mana‘o (your thoughts)?

Part One:

I registered three new domain names in June when my renewals came up for the ones I already have, because the deal in doing so was pretty sweet. Unfortunately TalkingStory.com and TalkingStory.net both weren’t available, so these are the ones I have now:

TalkingStoryBlog.com

SayTalkingStory.com, and

SLCTalkingStory.com

I’ll be doing a domain switch for this site to one of them (when I’m caught up with some other things), and I’m leaning toward TalkingStoryBlog.com because it’s pretty much on point … any votes for the other two?

Part Two:

You are part of a wonderful, very knowledgeable minority. The vast majority of the world still has no clue about what a blog is, and if they are in business, they may not be managing with Aloha. As you know, managing with Aloha is what Talking Story is all about (when I manage to stay on point).
[fyi that last mwa link does not go to a shopping-cart page of my book, it explains mwa.]

So, once the domain switch gets done, I am very seriously considering printing these cards up, and handing them out to all the business people and service providers that I meet. Tell me what you think of my draft.

Let’s Talk Story.

I’m a *Blogger. To be accurate, a Business Blogger. Inspire me so I can help you!

I love to write about businesses that “get it,” providing Aloha, exceptional service, and ethically good value to their guests and customers. I do this because I believe that business people can make a profound, positive difference in our world, and because they can, they should.

So do me a favor: Be that mover and shaker in business today. Manage your business and yourself with Aloha. I’d love to write about you, and use your great example to inspire others.

You can visit me on www.TalkingStoryBlog.com or on www.ManagingWithAloha.com

If you believe you already manage with Aloha, are Blog-worthy and want to get the word out, send me an email at TalkingStory@gmail.com and I’ll shop you next time I’m nearby.

*Bloggers write articles on the internet that are free and globally distributed WOB, by Word of Blog. Some call us Sneezers, some call us Mavens, some call us Citizen Publishers. Fact is, we are very passionate influencers, and we love spreading great ideas. Our audience grows every day, and we want to deliver positive, good stuff to them. Do an internet search for Blog and see what comes up.

When you begin to read Blogs, and the time is coming that you will, choose the optimistic voices, and the Bloggers who will commit to being part of the solutions we need to make our world better.

What do you think?

Postscript: I no longer encourage everyone in business to start writing blogs as I once did. I have a post in draft about this, and I’ll probably post it tomorrow after it cooks a bit more.

Both Good. Your judgement is impeccable. I especially like the postscript which encourages people to read the ‘optimistic voices.’ They say “no news is good news” but I think as citizen publishers we can choose to change that axiom ;)

Rosa,
I like the TalkingStoryBlog.com domain. I had the same issue when I tried to get businessthoughts.com, but had to settle on businessthoughtsblog.com.
The card idea is a great one and should help you get to know even more businesses and great people.
Very good idea.

I vote for the talkingstoryblog name, too.
And I like your idea of a card explaining what’s a blog. Many people never heard of blogs yet, or if they had, never thought of how many ways you could use blogging.
I plan to start working on a more pro blog sooner or later, to develop a more established online presence, and not just some occasional thoughts and info bits. And I appreciate your strong commitment to the blog format, as a great model for how this could be done.
yours,
Sus

Rosa, I love it. Logistically, are you thinking of a postcard?
What a way to coach businesses. By handing the card to businesses, you’re giving them the means to create something better for themselves. You give them the power to say “Yes, I want to grow what I have.” It all starts with them.

Mahalo nui to everyone for your feedback (I’ve gotten a couple of emails too). This idea is sort of like a hatchling still in the nest, and I really appreciate hearing from all of you.
Yes Chris, I’m thinking a postcard. I’ve done a flyer before in a similar pilot program, using the flyer in the seminars and speeches I give, but it’s gotten lost in the stack of papers people get and it’s had too much information. I think a postcard will stand out a bit more, be more durable, and have some double or triple-duty uses.
And I have two goals with it (the jury’s still out if I’m attempting to do too much):
1. Encourage people to raise their game in the service they provide, and
2. Encourage more blog reading as a whole.
